“When the flower blooms, the bees come uninvited”
- Ramakrishna
Born to immigrant Taiwanese parents, Ming-jen Chen and Shu-fei Chen, in Acjachemen and Tongva territory (Southern California). I was raised by my grandmother, Ing-Yang Hu until the age of 12 with Taiwanese Hokkien as my first language.
My path to healing started in my early 20’s, when I was a full time Policy Analyst for the City of Long Beach, CA. I was experiencing burn out working 60-80+ hours a week managing citywide sustainability programs and policies, and volunteering for local non-profits. I struggled with extreme fatigue, debilitating chronic pain, auto-immune conditions, reproductive health complications, and struggled with depression, anxiety and substance abuse.
Western medicine offered no support and pushed me further into distress, and in desperation I turned towards ancestral healing modalities of acupuncture, TCM, qigong, plant medicines, and energy healing. After working with different practitioners, I was able to turn my health around and found teachers that helped me anchor these modalities as embodied practices.
I left my full time career after a decade of healing from chronic illness, and devoted myself to apprenticing with my mentors and elders. My mentors include human teachers I have apprenticed with, and teachers in the other realms that have shown up over the years to share their knowledge and medicine for my own recovery & reclamation process.

When a thriving ecosystem generates honey, it brings medicine to communities, far and wide…
My guides consider me a gardener of the soul’s ecosystem – someone who tends to life.
The gardener holds the vision for the wholeness of the ecosystem, and provides the tools & resources to tend to it holistically.
Honey Heart Medicine represents the layers transcending the garden itself. It’s the nectar of the garden transformed by the pollinators coming to the blossoms.
When multiple gardens are blossoming, and there are thriving ecosystems over multiple seasons, only then can there be honey.
This is the direction for humanity I’m holding in my heart, this is the vision of the cosmic gardener. Beyond wholeness, is the vision of thriving ecosystems, for the soul of the universe.
A Soul's Gardener is someone who tends to life’s evolution, to the micro and macro of the ecosystem—someone who holds the vision and respect for the thriving ecosystem of the soul. Supporting people on their soul’s journey to help people anchor in their own medicine, their nectar.
It takes knowing the topography of the land. Knowing how to plant seeds and water them, developing the attunement and patience required to watch one leaf unfurl at a time, allowing the fruits and flowers to blossom over the seasons.
